NSBHA Pre-season Program - Coaching Development:

NSBHA is offering an opportunity for players, current coaches or parents to participate in a hockey coaching development program ideally timed within the pre-season period.

Ideal for parents wishing to learn more about and support their child's hockey, students looking to learn a new skill via a Duke of Edinburgh program, those keen to equip themselves to hockey coach a team this season, aspiring representative coaches and those wishing to progress their coaching skills through exposure to the ideas and approaches of others.

This program features the opportunity to learn whilst contributing as part of a coaching team - working alongside a range of experienced coaches and leading senior players.

The program provides a unique opportunity to learn to coach players of a diverse range of ages and abilities, in both skills training and game play, in an environment where you get to learn, plan, practice and refine your coaching through peer-to-peer mentoring.

Participation is FREE OF CHARGE.

Coaching Accreditation (for either Community Coach or Level 1 Coach):

Via this same schedule of skills training and game day opportunities, the program is also able to offer a limited number of candidates the chance to progress a formal coaching accreditation according to the syllabus and competency standards specified through Hockey Australia's HockeyEd.

The Community Coach program is ideal for those looking for an early coaching exposure to hockey.

The Level 1 Coach program is perfect for those who understand the game of hockey and desire to coach a club, school or representative team this coming season.  Certainly for those looking for casual work as a coach in hockey, the Level 1 Coach accreditation provides the employer with important minimum competency assurance requirements.

STEP 1:  Accreditation candidates must register via HockeyEd and complete their HockeyEd online training.  The HockeyEd website provides further details on both the Community Coach and Level 1 Coach programs.  These on-line courses attract a $50 administration fee.

STEP 2:  The NSBHA Coaching Development program will facilitate practical training, mentoring and assessment in hockey coaching according to your target accreditation level.  NSBHA offers this program FREE OF CHARGE.

STEP 3:  Upon successful completion of both the on-line training and practical assessment components, the applicant may then submit these elements to Hockey NSW to be verified and accredited.
